To Co-op is Divine
Posted by admin on 01.26.2009 at 5:00 pm
From today until February 6th, 4 out of 5 of our new book orders on BetterWorld.com are going to come with a Valentine surprise from us to you, courtesy of an amazing social enterprise – Divine Chocolate.
No worries Charlie, no Golden Geese or Oompa-Loompas were harmed in the production of this chocolate surprise. Divine Chocolate comes from the Kuapa Kokoo co-op in Ghana, West Africa. From their site:
Kuapa Kokoo – which means good cocoa growers – has a mission to empower farmers in their efforts to gain a dignified livelihood, to increase women’s participation in all of Kuapa’s activities, and to develop environmentally friendly cultivation of cocoa.
Divine indeed. Will you get a golden ticket?

Does this include international orders? Or might the chocolate not survive the trip?
I just got a chocolate bar in my package today and I was sooo excited! I didn’t even know you guys were doing this. And the chocolate is delicious
Christine – it DOES include International orders – lucky for you, Shannon S. from BWB was on the case. I thought it didn’t, because Divine isn’t available everywhere we ship. So I told the shipping guys to hold off on including it in the internationals until I double-checked. Shannon was way ahead of me and already checked – and Divine said to go ahead and ship worldwide.
A little tip… you’re more likely to get chocolate if you order a new and a used book in the same order. Good luck!
–Xavier
Thanks for that info! I’ll place an order in the next couple of days.
Thanks for my books and my chocolate. Unfortunately Divine is not available here in Australia. I am very grateful for this piece of fair trade!!!
Glad to see you all are enjoying the chocolate! It’s been test of willpower for my team and I to stare at the delicious chocolate all day as we package your books.
