Some facts about the event:

• There are over 500 NaNoWriMo Chapters around the world.
• 366 K-12 schools participated in 2007.
• Over a billion words were written by WriMos in 2007…
• Sara Gruen author of the famous Water for Elephants, wrote two novels during NaNoWriMo including Water for Elephants in 2006 and Flying Changes in 2004.

A quick calculation tells me that 50,000 words in 30 days is 1,666.67 words a day. For me that is the frightening thought… Happy Halloween!

We’ve all got them, you know – the list you have with all the things you want to do in your life. For example:

This month we’ve recruited some help for you and your list. Our friends at National Novel Writing Month (NaNo WriMo) have created a grass roots event with over 100,000 people getting together to write novels.

No Plot? No Problem! NaNoWriMo will keep in touch with you throughout November to give the emotional support and coaching to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. A novel concept indeed.
