Better World Books celebrated World Book Day and the grand opening of our Reno, Nevada distribution center. The day began with a ribbon cutting ceremony during which Better World Books and several key community leaders and groups had a chance to discuss literacy and education in the area. Following the ribbon cutting, the community was invited to a book giveaway where we made 25,000 free books available. Around 500 people showed up to welcome Better World Books and stock up on books for their families. Better World Books is thankful to be part of such a vibrant community.
We want to give a personal thank you to our speakers who participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony:
- Mike Kazmierski, CEO of The Economic Development Authority of Northern Nevada (EDAWN)
- Kendall Inskip, Director of The Education Alliance
- Jeff Scott, Library Director Washoe County Library System
- Gary Benedetti, representing the Kiwanis Club
We look forward to a future of working together for literacy and education. See below to watch KTVN’s coverage of the the event and some wonderful mentions from the community. Also, visit our Facebook page to see even more pictures from the event.
