Happy Birthday, John Steinbeck

intro-steinbeckquotesToday marks John Steinbeck’s 112th birthday, and we found a great write-up over at Biographile.com summarizing the American author’s life and writing. We wanted to share a couple of the Steinbeck’s quotes that are shared there, which range from pithy absolutes…

“To be alive at all is to have scars. (The Winter of Our Discontent, 1961).”

…to some lighter musings on what it is like to be a writer.

“Ideas are like rabbits. You get a couple and learn how to handle them, and pretty soon you have a dozen. (Interview with Robert van Gelder, April 1947, as quoted in John Steinbeck : A Biography, 1994, by Jay Parini)”

Check out the post here, and let us know what you think. And if you’re in need of some of Steinbeck’s works, or books about him, well… you know where to go.
