How do you take a space and turn it into an experience?

intro-camphappinessDrawing on inspiration from the documentary Happy and the Oak Park Public Library’s Idea Box, Justina Wooten was inspired to create a physical space where library customers could interact with information in more experiential ways. The story unfolds at the Anythink blog:

The result was a beautiful retreat where library customers learned, reflected and created. And they did just that. The Happiness Experience was an overwhelming success, and Anythink customers visited the space time and time again. One local family even made it their new destination, sharing this comment: “We don’t have to go out to a restaurant or to the mall. We can just come here and have this experience.”

And that’s not the end of the story. The experience is going on the road, and you can see it yourself at this year’s Public Library Association 2014 Conference in Indianapolis (starting tomorrow!). Better World Books is providing the books for Camp Happiness.
