Roxanne H. – Mom’s Devotional Bible – NIV because in my darkest times it brings me comfort and shows me how to go on one step at a time, when overcome and not knowing where to look for specific help I can turn to the back and it gives suggestions as to which book and verse can help – thank you to my sister for giving it to me it was one of the best birthday presents I ever received.
Andy M. – I’m most thankful for To Kill a Mocking Bird. That book opens up a page in history that isn’t very pretty and turns it into and inspirational tale of growth, love, and acceptance for those who are different. It shows that even in the slough of despondency that is racism and hate, a good heart and stable mind can get though and prevail, and possibly change a few minds with its journey.
Sarah B. – Mine is probably A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I grew up with that book, and as a bibliophile, I identified immediately with the main character. It’s wonderfully written–Betty Smith’s masterpiece.
Tom M. – I am most thankful for Douglas Adams having written The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I have read this series of books several times and they have provided me with countless hours of laughter and a unique and fascinating perspective on life, the universe and everything. I am always envious of people who haven’t read these books because I would love to experience reading them for the first time again!
Elizabeth K. – Thinking of one book that I tie to Thanksgiving, Barbara Kingsolver’s Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, since it introduced me to a different relationship to where my turkeys come from – and now I only eat a turkey on Thanksgiving that actually got to be a turkey, walking around outdoors & such, before it went into my oven.
Clarence N. – The Bible
Susan Stallman Sabani – The Lorax!! Just one of the greatest books ever!
LaSandra McGhee – A Book of Prayer by Stormie Omartian. It’s 365 prayers for victorious living and I’ve given almost everyone in my family a copy.
Pauline Turner – The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman AND Heaven is for Real by Todd Burpo – 2 life changing books I read this year.
What book are YOU most thankful for? What books do you suggest giving to friends and family that they will be thankful for? Thanks for sharing!
