It’s National Do Something Nice Day and we hope you’re going out of your way to make the world a nicer place today but we also want to remind you that every time you shop with Better World Books, we are all doing something nice together.
How do Better World Books and customers work together to do something nice?
Do Something Good for Others
With every book you purchase from Betterworldbooks.com, you are helping to provide a book for someone in need. To date, we have donated over 31 million books to a variety of organizations, schools and more to contribute to literacy and education.
Learn about Book Buddies of San Antonio, an education foundation that used donated books from Better World Books to create handpicked book packs for students learning from home during the pandemic.
Do you know an organization that could use a donation of books? Direct them to our Donation Request Form here.
Do Something Good for the Planet
The good that we are doing alongside our customers goes far beyond donations. By giving a second life to donated and former library books, we reduce the number of books being produced and disposed of.
Unfortunately, there will be times that books simply cannot be sold or donated, because they are outdated, damaged, etc. but that doesn’t mean we will be tossing them into the trash. Better World Books has saved over 385 million books from landfills through recycling.
We also offer the opportunity to offset carbon emissions at checkout. It’s only a few pennies per book, but when thousands of people do it every day it adds up.
How Can We Continue to Do Good Together?
When you donate your used books to Better World Books, it allows us to resell or donate those books. Not only is it clearing up some space on your shelves for new additions, but we are able to use a portion of the profits we make to give out literacy and education grants (you’ll hear more about this from us soon!).
Ready to make that donation? Use our Drop Box Locator to see if there’s a Drop Box near you. No Drop Box? No problem. If you’re willing to ship your donations to one of our facilities, we’d be happy to accept them. Learn more about what books we are looking for and how to send them here.
