Several people recommended Marley and Me, but this annecdote from “Think Organized” is very worth sharing: “I read most of Marley & Me and enjoyed it, then my dog ate it about 30 pages from the end. He also chewed up his obedience school registration. We had to tape it together before class.” Order a copy.

“In grade school, I read several of Albert Payson Terhune ‘s dog books about his collies. I cried so much my mother was annoyed and asked, ‘Why do you keep reading those books if they make you cry?!’ Because I loved the dogs and their stories! My mother was not very sentimental but I was and still am at 73. (Mom, my dog sleeps on my bed with me.)” – Barbara D.
