Hey Black Friday, take a breather!

Black FridayAlthough many have speculated on the history of the term “Black Friday,” the origin story for the American shopping holiday that occurs the day after Thanksgiving is certainly a commercial one. Since it kicks off the Christmas shopping season, it is a crucial day for retailers, with its Internet little sibling (AKA Cyber Monday) following three days later.

However, the trappings of observance have become… stressful, to say the least. So we have a message from us to Black Friday.

“Hey! Black Friday! Calm down!” Sorry for yelling. We want you to be safe and stress free the day after Thanksgiving. Heck, we want that for you every day of the year. Here are a few things you can do differently on Black Friday.

1. Chill out. Chill all the way out. You could be in the middle of a crowd right now. But you’re not. You’re here. Chilling.

2. Relax. Seriously! Make yourself some hot tea and remind yourself how you don’t have to play tug-of-war for a Tickle Me Elmo or whatever this week’s new video game console is.

3. If you feel like you’re missing out, we’ve got that covered, too. Come work out all your Black Friday shopping ya-yas at the Black Friday sale. No lines, no stress, no tug-of-war, no Mad-Max-esque societal degeneration. Just discounts on all used books that ship from BetterWorldBooks.com.

Here are just a few of the bestsellers on sale this weekend:

The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Gone Girl

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

The Casual Vacancy

Those and lots more at the 2013 Black Friday sale. See  you there!
