We Met One of Our Favorite Authors at TED: Amy Krouse Rosenthal

She walked up to the TED Bookstore with a trail of children dressed in rainbow colors frolicking behind her.

No, not actually, but that’s what it felt like.

Amy Krouse Rosenthal is an award-winning author of both children and adult fiction and non-fiction. She is also a contributor to TED and NPR. The New York Times says Amy’s children’s books: “Radiate fun the way tulips radiate spring: they are elegant and spirit-lifting.”

Her 20+ books for children include Little Pea, Spoon, Chopsticks, Duck! Rabbit!, The Wonder Book, Cookies: Bite-Size Life Lessons, and Plant a Kiss.

But that’s enough from us. Hear from Amy herself:
Name: Amy Krouse Rosenthal

Occupation: Maker of things (books, videos, speeches, wishes)

Home town: Chicago

Life-changing moment: Being asked to do this interview. 🙂

Mission: To keep doing things that I love to the best of my ability for as long as I can.

Favorite book & why: Our Town, the play. Because it is so beautiful and profound yet simple and real.

Hidden talent: I can say the 50 states in alphabetical order in 17 seconds.

Shocking moment: Winning the Oscar. Seriously surreal. Oh, wait, sorry, that wasn’t me.

Gets you excited to get out of bed in the mornings: Coffee.

Wishes could be: Immortal with my family by my side

Greatest challenge: At 5’1″ I’d have to say reaching the top shelf.

What other authors do you think we should try to interview?
