Inspiration for #GivingTuesday

It’s Giving Tuesday, a day “for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving.” This is just a quick collection of photos that we found inspirational—a reminder that there are efforts all around you to give back to your community and others around the world, just waiting for you to get involved.

You could deliver books via bicycle, like Ride for Reading does:

Or you could supply home libraries for kids to read:

Or you could identify a community of young readers with a huge need for books, and donate 50,000 of them all at once:

Or you could bring story books to the 10 and under crowd to help them learn the love of reading:

When it comes to giving books, the need is great and the possibilities are endless. If you have plans for Giving Tuesday, let us know what they are in the comments!

  1. Have ordered for years…but NOW, when I bring up your site…the letters are so tiny that you can’t even figure anything out! It’s almost impossible to read! Why so tiny? It never use to be like this! It makes it almost impossible to order anything. Very disappointed now. Please help! thank You!
Seriously, when you type in http://www.betterworldbooks.com (everything is so tiny weeny you can’t read it!)

    • Sorry to hear that, Diane. That sounds like a browser issue. While viewing our website, try hitting Control+0 (Command+0 on a mac) and see if that resets your browser’s text size. If that doesn’t work, consider using a different internet browser or contacting us at [email protected]. Hope this helps!

  2. At one time, BWB would supply prepaid cartons to donate unwanted books to your organization. Is this policy still in effect?

    Thank you.

    Hello

I have some questions about the Summer Internship program at Better World Books.

My name is Nusrat and I am from the Sigma Tau Delta chapter all the way in Middle East, Kuwait. I am currently a senior at the American University of Kuwait.
Your Internship story was really inspiring to hear. Frankly, while I just love the idea of doing an Internship at Georgia, I am a little nervous. It is a thousand miles away from where I live and the prospect of being so far away from home for the first time is a little daunting!

But my parents are super supportive in this respect and I would really, really love to sign up for the Internship. I only have two main concerns:

    1. Housing- I know that the Interns must provide their own housing and transportation. Does that mean I have to find my own accommodations if accepted for the internship, or am I just responsible to pay for my housing while accommodations will be provided?
    2. Cost- Since I have lived in Kuwait my whole life, I don’t really have any idea bout living expenses in the USA. How much approximately would you say housing and transportation would cost for the duration of the trip?

Thank you for your help! I really appreciate it!
